Year 4.

This week Year 4 had a wonderful trip to the Armstrong Hall in Thornbury to watch a production of Shakespeare's Macbeth.  The children were completely absorbed from the moment they entered the hall as the actors and actrresses were immediately interacting with them.  The children were able to ask them questions before and after the performance.

The performance included an innovative use of a variety of props to make noises and music throughout. Tubes, metal bins, fencing and a glass of water were used in different ways to great effect.

Without doubt, the most popular scenes  in the play were those involving fighting - however, the children were reassured that those scenes were choreographed in minute detail and that each of the actors and actresses had fighting licenses!

Thank you to Mrs Chanelle and Mrs Harrison for volunteering to join our experience.

Before Chirstmas:

This term we have been learning to write newspaper articles.  First, we looked at lots of existing newspaper articles and analysed how they were written.  We practised some writing and presentation skills, both on paper and on the computers, and then we had a go at writing our own.  Miss Martin said they could be based on a real event or something made up - we definitely used our imaginations!

In P.E. we have been creating a dance based on the origins of the Hindu festival of Diwali.  It includes individual, whole class and paired movements.  As you can see, we had a lot of fun!
